Another Week...Another Storm
The water returned so we left Oriental and decided to make it an easy 20-mile sail over to Morehead City in Beaufort, NC. We tied up at Morehead City Yacht Basin and were surprised to see Straight From the Heart. A reunion followed with our friend Maryanne who we met (and nearly collided with) two years ago in Coinjock. Having lots of restaurants to choose from made the selection tough, but we ended up having a great lunch at a place called Raps. The next morning, with yet another storm being forecast, and in the company of a dozen or so dolphins, we headed down Bogue Sound to our destination 43 miles away called Sneads Ferry, NC. We ended up staying at a little place called Swan's Point Marina so we could wait out the storm being forecast for Thursday. It turned out to be a nice friendly marina catering mostly to fisherman and shrimpers.
Today it’s blowing 30 to 35 kts and we’re under both a gale warning and tornado watch. We decide to celebrate being in our secure little berth by having a pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving. What better reason to give thanks! The turkey just barely fit into the small galley oven, but already it smells superb.
